To celebrate the successful completion of the fasting period, the President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government has designated Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays.
This announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a formal statement issued on Tuesday.The holiday is intended to allow the Muslim faithful to mark the end of the sacred month of Ramadan with their families and communities across the country.
The Minister extended his heartfelt congratulations to all citizens observing the fast, urging them to continue practicing the virtues of love and sacrifice that are central to the faith.
Beyond the celebration, the government is calling on all Nigerians to use this festive period to offer prayers for the nation's continued peace and prosperity.
Tunji-Ojo also reassured the public that the current administration remains fully committed to fostering national unity and ensuring a safe, peaceful coexistence for everyone during and after the celebrations.
