The struggle for the soul of the Peoples Democratic Party is entering a critical phase as a specialized reconciliation committee prepares to meet this coming Monday.

This group, which includes six legal experts and prominent politicians from both opposing sides, is working diligently to merge the different requirements each camp has for a peace deal.

High-ranking party leaders have confirmed that the National Working Committee is fully supporting these efforts to fix the deep-seated internal crisis that has fractured the party for years.

A major breakthrough in the talks occurred when the Bauchi State Governor, who had previously stayed away from any discussions with the Wike-backed group, signaled he is now open to the reconciliation process.

Following a preliminary meeting held last Friday, both sides agreed to consult with their respective caucuses to list out their "realistic and workable" demands.

By Monday, these lists will be formally reviewed to see if a common ground can be achieved. Whether the party will eventually move forward with a full national convention or set up an interim caretaker committee remains a point of debate, but the upcoming talks are expected to provide a much clearer direction for the party's leadership.
