Kano State is seeing another major change in its leadership as the Commissioner for Water Resources, Umar Haruna Doguwa, has officially resigned.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf accepted the resignation on Monday, marking the fourth top official to leave the state cabinet recently.

Doguwa’s exit was confirmed on Tuesday by the Governor’s spokesperson. He joins three other commissioners—handling Security, Special Duties, and Science—who have all stepped down in recent weeks.

Governor Yusuf praised Doguwa for his hard work over the past year. Under his leadership, the state fixed several broken water facilities and brought clean drinking water to many new communities.

To make sure the water supply isn't interrupted, the Governor has asked the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Makoda, to manage the Water Ministry for now.

While the government hasn't called this a "cleanup," many people believe the Governor is currently restructuring his entire team to improve how the state is run.
