The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT) held an urgent meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
The meeting was called to address the recent Appeal Court judgment that canceled the party’s last National Convention and to appoint new leadership for the board.
Former Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu, has been officially appointed as the Secretary of the PDP Board of Trustees.
The PDP leadership stated they disagree with the court’s decision to invalidate their November 2025 convention. They are currently consulting lawyers on whether to appeal.
The party is worried that internal fighting will hurt members who want to run for office in the 2027 general elections.
Despite the legal drama, the BoT reported that millions of Nigerians are still joining the party through its new e-registration platform.
