The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has sent a clear message to the top hierarchy of the Nigeria Police Force.
During a high-profile decoration ceremony held at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall in Abuja, the Police Chief officially tasked newly promoted Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and Commissioners of Police (CPs) to lead with absolute professionalism.
Disu emphasized that these new ranks represent a call to higher responsibility and warned that his administration has zero tolerance for corruption, indiscipline, or the abuse of office.
The IGP highlighted that modern policing must be built on respect for human rights and a deep responsiveness to public needs.
He reminded the senior officers that they are now strategic leaders whose actions must reflect the rule of law.
Beyond their own actions, the IGP stated he would hold them strictly accountable for the conduct of every officer serving under their command.
To ensure these standards are met, he urged the leaders to eliminate outdated practices and instead adopt innovation and operational efficiency as the new benchmarks for success within their various jurisdictions.
