Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has revealed that President Bola Tinubu was the key reason he remained in office during a high-stakes political crisis in 2023.

Speaking on Friday, March 6, 2026, the Governor recalled how the entire State House of Assembly had turned against him while he was serving as Deputy Governor.

Aiyedatiwa shocked listeners by revealing that all 26 members of the Ondo State House of Assembly had signed the papers to remove him from office.

He credited President Tinubu’s "timely intervention" for stopping the process and helping the state government find peace during a chaotic time.

Aiyedatiwa also reminded the public that his late boss, Rotimi Akeredolu, had publicly predicted he would move from Deputy Governor to Governor as far back as their 2021 inauguration.

The Governor explained that when the late Akeredolu became ill, "division" broke out in the party as different politicians began fighting for power and eyeing the governor’s seat.
