The Nigerian government is taking urgent steps to protect its citizens trapped in the escalating conflict across the Gulf region

As global markets react to the instability, the focus for many remains on the safety of thousands of Nigerians living, studying, and transiting through the affected areas.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced that it is currently clearing administrative hurdles and releasing necessary funds to begin the evacuation of Nigerians from volatile regions in the Middle East.

This decision follows a sharp rise in regional tensions caused by missile and drone strikes.

According to Kimiebi Ebienfa, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government is working tirelessly to finalize logistical details, including the potential deployment of Nigerian Air Force aircraft to bring citizens home safely.

The mission faces significant logistical challenges, particularly for those in Iran.

Plans are being discussed to transport stranded Nigerian students from various universities toward the Armenian border, though the volatile security situation has made flight scheduling difficult.

Meanwhile, there is progress for those caught in transit; Qatar Airways has resumed some operations, with flights already arriving in Lagos.

The ministry assured the public that most transit passengers should be back in Nigeria within a few days, while the injured Nigerian caught in recent strikes has already been treated and discharged.
