Following the reported death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei during joint U.S.-Israeli strikes, the exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi has officially accepted calls to lead a political transition in Iran.
In a video address on Friday, March 6, 2026, Pahlavi stated he is prepared to serve as a bridge to a new, democratic future for the Iranian people.
Pahlavi claimed that millions of Iranians have urged him to step forward as a transitional leader to restore "normalcy" and stabilize the nation's foreign relations.
The Prince emphasized that his goal is not an absolute monarchy, but a process where a new constitution is drafted and free elections are held under international oversight.
Pahlavi called on Arab nations and Western partners to recognize and engage with a potential transitional government to ensure regional peace.
With the Supreme Leader’s death confirmed on March 1, Iran is currently being managed by a temporary three-man council while the Assembly of Experts struggles to appoint a successor.
