The battle against public sector corruption recorded a major win as the EFCC successfully processed the return of recovered funds amounting to over ₦3.9 billion to the NNPCL

This specific sum of ₦3,936,145,822 was identified and clawed back following a series of detailed probes into internal misconduct and financial irregularities

The ceremony in Abuja served as a platform for the anti-corruption body to reaffirm its mandate.

Officials noted that the agency remains committed to working with courage to track down mismanaged funds that belong to the Nigerian public, regardless of where they are hidden.

During the presentation, the NNPCL management expressed deep gratitude for the inter-agency cooperation

Representing the oil giant, Mumuni Dagazau noted that bringing the matter to the EFCC was a strategic choice to ensure a thorough cleanup of the system

He described the day as a "great moment" for the company, signaling a real commitment to relying on law enforcement for future assistance in safeguarding national oil revenue

This high-profile recovery highlights the ongoing efforts to stabilize Nigeria's downstream sector and eliminate the fraudulent actors that have historically hindered its growth.
