The former Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Tambuwal, who also served as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, announced his exit on Thursday, March 12, 2026, citing the PDP's endless internal fighting as his main reason for leaving.
Tambuwal stated that the internal crisis and leadership disagreements within the PDP have made it impossible for him to stay.
He has chosen the ADC as his new platform, believing it is a better vehicle for "integrity and national development."
The former governor isn't moving alone; he confirmed that his associates and supporters are joining him in the ADC.
He has already sent a formal resignation letter to his ward chairman to make the move legally binding.
