The Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has officially addressed the viral reports claiming he has abandoned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Following days of intense political speculation suggesting a move to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Governor clarified his stance during a brief interaction with the media at the Government House.
He dismissed the widespread defection rumors, simply stating, "I have not moved; they said that I have defected." By referring to himself as an international figure in politics, he hinted that any such major decision would not be handled lightly or in secret.
While the Governor declined to give a lengthy interview immediately after the swearing-in ceremony of 17 new Permanent Secretaries, he promised to provide more details during a scheduled appearance on Channels TV.
This move comes at a time when the Nigerian political landscape is filled with talks of high-profile politicians switching sides.
For now, the Governor’s remarks serve to calm the nerves of PDP supporters across the country.
Despite the pressure from the ruling party, Mohammed’s short but firm declaration reaffirms his current status as a key leader within the main opposition party in Nigeria.
