President Bola Tinubu and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz held a 10-minute phone conversation on Wednesday to strengthen the 65-year relationship between Nigeria and Germany

The discussion focused on solving Nigeria's power problems and fighting terrorism in the Sahel region.

President Tinubu requested "used helicopters" from Germany to help Nigerian forces with intelligence and surveillance in the troubled Sahel region.

The President asked for help with Nigeria’s power transmission. In response, the Chancellor promised that Siemens is ready to help, and Deutsche Bank is willing to provide the funding.

The two leaders also agreed to work together on improving Nigeria's railway system and building a new "Great Museum of African Arts."

Chancellor Merz noted that Germany is eagerly waiting for Nigeria’s new ambassador to arrive to continue their long-standing partnership.
