Nasir El-Rufai is facing a "triple threat" from Nigeria’s security and anti-graft agencies. His attempt to go home on bail failed on Wednesday, and he now faces a long list of criminal charges ranging from money laundering to cybercrime.
A Permanent Secretary who intended to bail him out has reportedly fled the process after being threatened by unknown persons.
The DSS says El-Rufai confessed during an Arise TV interview that he and his team used "technical equipment" to monitor the National Security Adviser's phone. They say this is a serious threat to national security.
The EFCC is focusing on ₦433 billion that allegedly went missing during his time in office.
His lawyers have written to the ICPC to explain that their client is "unavailable" for their own investigation because the EFCC refuses to let him go.
