Nigerian troops have destroyed 53 illegal oil refineries and arrested 81 suspects in January, as part of Operation Delta Safe.
The military also rescued 8 Cameroonian nationals and recovered arms and ammunition during sustained operations across the Niger Delta region.
The Defence Headquarters reports troops responded to distress calls linked to sea piracy and other criminal activities, dismantling illicit refining camps and engaging a barge siphoning petroleum products.
