Ariana Church, a 9-year-old girl from Wales, made an extraordinary discovery on a beach near her home - a meteorite that's older than Earth itself.
Ariana was walking with her family at Penarth Pier when she spotted the unusual stone and picked it up. Initially, her dad dismissed it as an "AI mistake," but a family friend, a geologist, confirmed it was a rare Ferrous Iron Aerolite, dating back 4.5 billion years.
The meteorite's significance is huge - it's from our solar system, older than the oceans, dinosaurs, and even the planet itself. To test its age, the meteorite was cut in half, revealing tiny golden crystals formed over billions of years.
Ariana's find has made her a local celebrity at school, inspiring her to encourage others to explore and appreciate nature.
Ariana's grandmother, Marion, sees a powerful message in her find - kids should get outdoors, look around, and notice their surroundings. "We need to get kids out, off screens, looking down and looking around," she said.
The meteorite remains in Ariana's treasure box, a symbol of her incredible discovery and inspiration for future explorers
