Bolaji Abdullahi, former Minister of Youth Development and Sports, reveals in his memoir "The Loyalist" that he was appointed by ex-President Goodluck Jonathan without prior personal ties. Abdullahi, a Saraki loyalist, believes his exit from Jonathan's govt was linked to Saraki's defection to APC.

He was one of eight names forwarded to Jonathan from Kwara State, and his association with Saraki played a role in securing the nomination. Abdullahi served under Saraki as special assistant and commissioner before becoming minister.

The political tension was palpable, with Abdullahi feeling like "a man on death row". He was eventually removed from office in 2014, amidst Jonathan's battle with Saraki, who defected with 11 senators and five governors.

Abdullahi says he became a "subject of suspicion" and prepared for his exit, focusing on his job rather than politics. He chose not to discuss Saraki's defection with Jonathan, fearing misconstrued motives.
