The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has acknowledged the arrest of one of its members, Stanley Amandi, a Nollywood filmmaker and former Enugu State chairman, over his alleged involvement in a foiled coup plot against President Bola Tinubu's government.
Amandi was reportedly arrested in September 2025 alongside other civilians accused of participating in the failed coup attempt.
The AGN's former National President, Emeka Rollas, confirmed the guild is aware of the situation and will issue an official statement soon.
Amandi allegedly served as a propagandist for military officers involved in the plot, helping shape narratives and influence public perception ahead of the planned takeover.
The coup plot allegedly involved the assassination of top government officials, including President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and other senior officials.
The Defence Headquarters has confirmed the plot and will court-martial implicated officers, while civilians like Amandi will face trial in civil courts
