A Nigerian Army Major was killed in a deadly ambush by ISWAP fighters in Damasak, Borno state.
The officer, commanding the Damasak military base, led a 30-soldier foot patrol that came under explosives and gun attack.
22 soldiers, including the Major, were initially unaccounted for; only 8 returned to base.
