Police on High Alert as NLC Protest Looms

The Nigeria Police Force has mobilized special forces and tactical teams across the country to ensure a peaceful nationwide protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Wednesday.

The police are taking proactive measures to prevent miscreants and political hirelings from hijacking the protest, with deployments in key states including Benue, Jigawa, Sokoto, Imo, Bayelsa, Kano, Gombe, Bauchi, Akwa Ibom, and Kwara.

The NLC has maintained its stance on proceeding with the protest, citing escalating insecurity, unresolved agreements with the Federal Government, and rising cost of living as reasons for the demonstration.

NLC spokesperson Benson Upah warned that any attempt to disrupt the protest could trigger a nationwide indefinite strike, stating that harming workers or citizens would spark an immediate shutdown of the economy.
