President Bola Tinubu's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the swearing-in via social media, stating that General Musa was officially inaugurated as the new Defence Minister.
Musa's appointment follows his confirmation by the Senate on Wednesday, after undergoing a rigorous five-hour screening process. During his confirmation hearing, Musa pledged to implement a zero-tolerance policy on banditry and terrorism, vowing to deploy firm and decisive strategies to tackle the country's security challenges.
Musa's predecessor, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, resigned from the position citing health reasons. President Tinubu has expressed confidence in Musa's ability to strengthen Nigeria's defence posture, citing his extensive military experience and strategic leadership skills.
As Defence Minister, Musa has assured the public of his commitment to addressing the country's security threats, and has vowed to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of Nigeria and its citizens.
