The Spokesperson of the Emeka Beke–led faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Darlington Nwauju, has criticized the presentation of an APC membership card to Governor Siminalayi Fubara by Tony Okocha, describing the act as lacking legal validity and subject to judicial challenge.
Addressing journalists, Nwauju asserted that Okocha has no legitimate authority to act as the party’s chairman in the state or to issue membership cards. He condemned the move as “a slap on the judiciary,” emphasizing that two ongoing court cases are already disputing Okocha’s claim to the chairmanship position.
Nwauju further explained that the existence of these unresolved legal disputes forms the basis of the faction’s opposition to the card presentation. He cautioned that such actions, if left unchecked, could expose the party to new rounds of litigation and deepen internal divisions.
