A US delegation, led by Congressman Riley Moore, visited Benue State, Nigeria, meeting with Catholic bishops and the Tiv traditional ruler to discuss alleged Christian genocide.

Moore expressed support for Tiv and Christian leaders, stating, "Our brothers and sisters in Christ will no longer suffer in silence." The delegation's visit follows heightened diplomatic tensions after Nigeria was redesignated as a Country of Particular Concern over alleged religious freedom violations.

Moore met with Nigeria's National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and discussed counter-terrorism cooperation, regional stability, and strengthening security partnerships. The US delegation emphasized concrete steps to improve security, disrupt terrorist organizations, and stop Christian killings in the Middle Belt.

The Nigerian government has denied systemic Christian persecution, citing insecurity affecting all citizens.

Moore praised the government's rescue of 100 abducted Catholic school children and acknowledged openness to US cooperation.

He emphasized the need for concrete action, stating, "Now, that openness has to translate to concrete action"
