A shocking legal battle has reached the High Court, involving a massive fortune in cryptocurrency and allegations of domestic espionage

The case highlights the vulnerabilities of digital assets and the lengths individuals may go to during contentious divorce proceedings.

A high-stakes legal battle has erupted in the UK High Court, where a businessman is suing his wife for allegedly stealing roughly 2,323 Bitcoin, valued at up to £180 million.

The husband, Ping Fai Yuen, claims his spouse, Fun Yung Li, installed a secret CCTV system in their Brighton home to capture him entering his private security codes.

By filming him, she reportedly gained access to his seed phrase—a critical 24-word master password needed to override security protocols on his cold wallet, a physical device used for offline cryptocurrency storage.

Mr. Justice Cotter, the presiding judge, noted that the evidence against Li appears "damning," particularly after the husband recorded audio of her discussing the digital assets and the risks of money laundering

The court heard that the stolen funds were allegedly moved across 71 different blockchain accounts to hide the paper trail.

While the police have not yet taken criminal action, the judge granted a freezing order to prevent the assets from being moved further, citing the extreme market volatility of Bitcoin as a reason for an urgent trial.
