A celebratory trip turned into a tragedy on Monday evening following a fatal road traffic accident along the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
According to official reports from the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), the incident occurred near the Christopher University axis around 5:48 PM.
The victim, a woman who had just arrived from the United Kingdom, was traveling to Abeokuta to attend a wedding ceremony when the vehicle she was in met with disaster.
The deceased was a passenger in a white Toyota Camry alongside two other individuals.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that the car driver was traveling at excessive speed before slamming into a moving truck.
The force of the collision killed the woman instantly, while a male and another female passenger survived with varying degrees of injuries.
Babatunde Akinbiyi, the spokesperson for TRACE, confirmed that the survivors were rushed to Famobis Hospital and Redeemed Hospital for urgent medical care, while the woman's body was moved to the morgue.
