The latest Loud & Clear report from Spotify has unveiled a staggering financial boom for the local music scene, with Nigerian artists generating over ₦60 billion in revenue in 2025 alone.

This represents a massive 140% growth in earnings over the last two years, highlighting the lucrative nature of music streaming in the modern era.

The data shows that fans worldwide are obsessed with the sound of Nigeria, contributing to a total of 30.3 billion streams and over 1.6 billion listening hours.

This surge in digital consumption isn't just coming from old fans; first-time listeners discovered Nigerian creators over 1.3 billion times this year.

Beyond the global charts, the local impact of these numbers is profound. In Nigeria, home-grown talent dominates the airwaves, making up over 80% of the tracks on the daily top 50 charts.

Interestingly, the report found that independent artists and local labels are leading the charge, claiming around 58% of all royalties paid out.

This means that "indie" creators are successfully building sustainable careers without needing major international backing.

With genres like pop urbaine and alternative pop rising fast, the music ecosystem in Nigeria is becoming more diverse and financially rewarding than ever before.
