In a significant legal development at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Justice Hamza Muazu has officially discharged the former Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, and her former assistant, Gloria Odita.
This decision follows a major shift in the ₦2.5 billion fraud case originally brought forward by the Attorney General of the Federation.
During the proceedings in Maitama, the prosecution, led by Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), revealed that a plea bargain had been reached, resulting in an amended charge that removed the individuals from the lawsuit.
Instead of the former minister, the legal focus shifted to two corporate entities: Sobora International Limited and Global Offshore and Marine Limited.
These allegedly linked companies were accused of unlawful possession of massive sums, totaling over two billion Naira.
Appearing as the representative for these firms, Oduah entered a guilty plea on their behalf.
Consequently, the court ordered the winding up of both companies and the forfeiture of assets to the Federal Government, effectively ending the personal criminal proceedings against the former minister.
