The EFCC’s tenth witness, Olomotane Egoro, gave testimony on Wednesday that appears to favor the defense. While presenting bank documents in court, the witness admitted there is no evidence showing that Yahaya Bello was involved in the specific local government payments being investigated.

What Happened in Court:

  1. The Documents: The bank presented 13 documents, including account statements. While the EFCC is using these as evidence, the defense lawyers argued the documents aren't legally perfect yet.

  2. Local Government Roles: The witness reminded the court that Yahaya Bello was the Governor, not a local government chairman, and therefore wasn't the one managing these specific council accounts.

  3. Legitimate Business: The witness identified several payments made to a business enterprise for legitimate contracts, like supplying farm tools and health items, rather than the money being "stolen."

The case has been paused and will continue on March 10, 2026.
