Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, the former Minister of Women Affairs, has broken her silence following her exit from President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet, asserting that she stands firmly by every decision made during her tenure.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm, the ex-minister dismissed any notion of regret, suggesting instead that a "harder" approach is necessary to achieve results in Nigeria’s complex political landscape.

A Philosophy of Firmness Kennedy-Ohanenye argued that effective governance in Nigeria requires an uncompromising, "offline" approach. She emphasized that while the presidency and state governors may be active, progress often stalls in the middle layers of administration. According to her:

  • Assertiveness is Key: She believes she should have been even more forceful in her duties.

  • Integrity Over Diplomacy: She rejected the label of being "erratic," clarifying that her confrontational style was a refusal to participate in or overlook harmful irregularities.

  • Authenticity: The former minister maintained that her public persona was a true reflection of her character, refusing to adopt a "diplomatic" mask that would betray her principles.

Life Post-Cabinet Reflecting on her departure, Kennedy-Ohanenye noted that she has found peace away from the pressures of office.

She stated that her conscience is clear because she prioritized national interest over political correctness.

She concluded by noting that she is no longer preoccupied with the ministry's current affairs, preferring to focus on her personal well-being.
