The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has successfully brought home 23 young Nigerians who were trafficked to Southeast Asia.

Instead of the jobs and scholarships they were promised, these youths were forced into a life of online crime.

The Horror of the Scam:

  • False Promises: The victims were lured with fake job offers and scholarships but were instead taken to countries like Thailand and Myanmar.

  • Forced Fraud: Once there, they were forced to carry out romance scams and crypto fraud. Those who didn't meet their "daily targets" were tortured in "dark rooms."

  • Specific Targets: The traffickers looked for "clean" youths—those who are tech-savvy, well-educated, and don't drink or smoke.

  • Organ Harvesting Rumors: Some victims reported the terrifying possibility of organ harvesting among those who refused to cooperate.
