Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai experienced a dramatic "tag-team" arrest on Wednesday night.
Just moments after being granted bail by the EFCC, he was picked up by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) who were reportedly waiting for him at the exit.
After three days in EFCC custody over a ₦432 billion corruption probe, El-Rufai was finally granted bail around 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
He barely tasted freedom before armed security men—identified by sources as DSS operatives—intercepted him within the EFCC premises.
The DSS had already filed cybercrime charges against him earlier this week. They claim he admitted on live TV to "tapping" the phone of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
While the DSS currently holds him, the ICPC (the other anti-corruption agency) is also waiting to grill him regarding a failed ₦1.3 billion light rail project.
