President Bola Tinubu held an emergency meeting with Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) leaders on Tuesday night to try and stop a planned nationwide protest over rising insecurity in the country.
The meeting, which included key government officials like Governors Hope Uzodimma and Nasir Idris, aimed to address the NLC's concerns about insecurity, cost of living, and unresolved agreements with the Federal Government. The NLC has been pushing for action on these issues, citing the impact on workers' productivity, safety, and livelihoods. The union's president, Joe Ajaero, said the protest would go ahead unless the government takes decisive action. The outcome of the meeting is still uncertain, but the NLC will reconvene to discuss next steps
