Awele Elumelu Takes Helm as Transcorp Hotels' Board Chair

 

Transcorp Hotels Plc has appointed Dr. Awele Elumelu as its new Board Chair, effective January 1, 2026, succeeding Emmanuel Nnorom who is retiring. The announcement was made on the Nigerian Exchange Limited.

Dr. Elumelu brings over 20 years of leadership experience in healthcare, insurance, corporate governance, and philanthropy. She currently chairs Avon Healthcare Limited and Avon Medical Practice, and is a founding Director of Heirs Holdings Limited.

As a medical doctor with clinical experience in Nigeria and the UK, Dr. Elumelu has complemented her medical training with executive education at prestigious institutions, including Harvard Business School and the London School of Economics.

Dr. Elumelu is also a Trustee and Co-Founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, which has empowered over 24,000 young African entrepreneurs with seed capital, training, and mentorship.
